DOORMAT Rope Rug that is approximately 20″ x 20 ” (approximately with in 1 inch). Each rug is made to order so NO Two are alike. This rug is great for outdoors OR you could use it inside. This rope rug is virtually indestructible and will last a very very long time. The rug measures approximately 20 inches x 20 inches (within an inch) and is square in shape. All items are handmade and ONE OF A KIND. It is hand-woven from Alaskan Fisherman rope/line that we are recycling. This particular rope was ground line that was used to catch halibut and then outlined with NEW navy rope accent. As you can see the rope itself has some staining on it from use or where the hooks were on it but I believe it gives these pieces so much more character. Can be washed in cold water and is best with cold water hose outside and then lay flat for drying in sun.

Meet the Artisans

VG3Alaska Rug Company is owned and operated solely by owners Robert and Anita Shane which own and reside at the Port Bailey Cannery, a 100 year old decommissioned cannery on the island of Kodiak. The Shane’s live on-site year round, they started Alaska Rug Company in the winter 2010 when they both decided to quit smoking. In lieu of strangling one another while quitting they came up with a way to keep their hands busy and started playing with rope, finding designs and knots and began making rugs which led to much more. Alaska Rug Company is an Eco-friendly company based out of Port Bailey, Alaska which is located on the NW side of Kodiak Island Archipelago. Alaska Rug Company uses 100% Authentic Alaskan Fishing Line & Rope to make beautiful handwoven durable doormats, throw rugs, curtain tie backs, trivets, bowls, shapes, letters and so much more. Alaska Rug Company is committed to re-purposing rope all over Alaska and up-cycling it into beautiful handwoven durable rugs, mats and other housewares rather than let it clog our landfills or end up all over the beaches.
